There is nothing more therapeutic for the mind and body than that of a good massage. Health enthusiasts, local athletes, senior citizens, children and residents concerned about their overall well-being have all benefitted from massage therapy. Headaches, backaches, stress reduction, neck pain and shoulder pain can all be melted away in no time by skilled hands. I specialize in Thai massage as well as Chinese Acupressure. More and more people are now realizing the true overall benefits of therapeutic massage, and you can too.
Thai Medical Massage has a history of more than 2,500 years in Thailand. The style involves physically stimulating and adjusting the client's body through deep stretches and rhythmic compression. The practioner uses hands, thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a unique therapeutic experience. Thai Massage assists the client's energy flow to move freely, relieving tension and releasing blocks. The work is well- suited for long-term chronic conditions and assists in building vitality and fitness.
Acupressure (often mispelled 'accupressure') is an ancient approach to restoring and maintaining health of the body/mind/spirit. It is based on the Oriental philosophy that qi (also 'ki' or 'chi') energy, the life force that flows within us, is the key to our physical, emotional and spiritual health. If the flow of energy becomes blocked, there is dis-harmony and dis-ease. When qi flows unobstructed through the energy meridians (pathways) in our body, our energy is harmonized and the blockages that cause dis-ease in the body/mind/spirit are removed. We feel better physically and emotionally, experience a renewed sense of well being and feel better equipped to face our personal challenges.
Chinese herbal therapy is rooted in the same traditional Oriental theory as acupressure, but the client's symptoms are viewed from an eight principle paradigm, rather than from the tradition of the five elements. Because most Acupressurists are trained in five element (water, wood, fire, earth, metal) theory, and Oriental bodywork schools generally do not offer Chinese herbal training, there are very few Oriental bodyworkers trained in Chinese herbs. On the other hand, many acupuncturists are trained in Chinese herbology, a natural path for them, as they are already trained to view the patient from an eight principle perspective. Until recently, the only place Chinese herb programs were offered was in acupuncture schools.
Both Chinese herbs and acupressure have been shown to be very helpful with a variety of conditions. They are also effective tools to maintain wellness. While both are considered to be wholistic, alternative, complementary options to more traditional western treatment approaches, one need not be ill to take advantage of these therapies.
Ear Candles: A Better Way
Ear Candling is a very old home remedy for removing hard wax, candida, mold, pollen, and other debris that may have accumulated in the ear canal over the years. They were used by the early Tibetans, Egyptians, Mayans, and American Indians with profound results. This home remedy is painless, relaxing, effective and convenient. It is also much more comfortable than having your ears cleaned with fluid or sharp instruments. EarCandling can improve hearing as well as reduce the frequency and severity of ear infections They have also helped to clear the sinuses in many users.
The First Time
When using ear candles for the first time it may be necessary to use 3 or 4 candles per ear, one right after another, one ear at a time. This procedure helps to keep the wax warm and moving easily. The second and third candles usually remove more than the first. Use your judgement after the second and third candles to determine if you need more. If your ear feels clogged, do another, if it feels clear, stop.
How Often
Ear Candles can be used every three to six months, depending on the needs of the individual. Those whose ears quickly accumulate large quantities of wax may want to repeat treatment as needed.
